Onventis and Signicat Enter Strategic Partnership for Legally Compliant E-Signatures

1st April 2026 | News

The Source-to-Pay Intelligence Onventis has entered a partnership with Signicat, one of Europe’s most established providers of digital identity and trust services. As part of this collaboration, a fully integrated, eIDAS-compliant e-signing tool based on Signicat’s technology will be made available within the Onventis Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) solution.

With this new integration, customers will have access to Advanced Electronic Signatures (AES) based on substantial identity verification as a standard feature. The solution is fully embedded within the CLM, allowing users to sign contracts legally and directly within the Onventis system, without relying on external tools or manual intermediate steps. Seamless integration into existing workflows eliminates manual effort and significantly accelerates contract processes. In addition, users benefit from automated audit trails and transparent traceability of the full e-signing process.

eIDAS as the Foundation for Secure Digital Signatures

The eIDAS Regulation establishes a uniform legal framework for electronic identification across Europe. It enables secure, legally binding, and cross-border electronic transactions and provides an environment that facilitates digital interactions between companies, citizens, and public authorities.

For the use of the Signicat e-signing solution within Onventis CLM, this means that identities can be reliably verified in accordance with eIDAS, enabling electronic signatures with full legal validity. As a European Trust Service Provider, Signicat ensures that a person’s identity is verified according to clearly defined standards and securely linked to a digital signature.

eIDAS compliance is crucial, as it determines whether a digital contract is legally binding. In the event of disputes, audits, regulatory reviews or cross-border legal proceedings, organizations must be able to prove who signed, with which level of identity assurance, and in what legal capacity. Without eIDAS-compliant identity verification and trust services, electronic signatures may be challenged, their evidentiary value reduced or even rejected entirely.

A Milestone for Onventis and Signicat

Dolf van den Boorn, CPO at Onventis, says about the collaboration:

“The partnership with Signicat is another important building block of our vision to sustainably digitalize contract and procurement processes. With the deeply integrated e-signing solution, we are taking the efficiency and legal certainty of our platform to a new level. This is not only a technological enhancement but also a clear commitment to modern, holistic, and cross-border contract processes. Together, we are creating a reliable user experience that meets the growing demands of international markets.”

Philipp Wegmann, Country Manager DACH at Signicat, adds:

“With Onventis, we are combining the strengths of two worlds: powerful source-to-pay processes and leading European expertise in digital identities. Our eIDAS-compliant signature solutions enable companies to handle contracts securely, smoothly, and with full legal validity—regardless of country or industry. We are very much looking forward to working with Onventis to support organizations across Europe in accelerating their digital transformation.”
