Source-to-Pay Conference

3 Questions to Daniela Lurz

Daniela Lurz will be speaking at Xchange 2022 on 5 October about how procurement can become more sustainable through targeted measures.

In advance, we are talking with her about the role sustainability will play in purchasing, tips for implementing sustainability goals and what you can expect in her presentation at the Xchange.

What role do you think sustainability will play in procurement in the future?

In purchasing, we decide on a large part of the company’s expenditure. Together with specialist departments, we define requirements that are derived from and oriented towards customer wishes and their goals and visions. The legislator flanks the sustainable orientation with further focal points. For example, the Supply Chain Act will strengthen the focus on sustainability in procurement. Human rights, environment and climate will become more important.

What tips do you have for purchasing departments that are just starting to implement sustainability goals?

If the goals are already more concrete, then you should first enter into dialogue with your suppliers. Where do you already find activities in the supply chain that pay towards their goals? What are industry standards that you can use with suppliers? Start with the intersection, then you have a good starting point and can quickly demonstrate the first successes.

What can the guests look forward to during your presentation “For a more sustainable future: Purchasing at Hochland” at the Xchange 2022?

You can expect insights from a sustainable purchasing department with concrete implementation solutions from real-life practice – purchasing as a gamechanger.
